Advanced Utility | CIS Infinity selected to Enhance Customer Service for Over One Million Customers of the Capital City of Canada
June 28, 2016

The City of Ottawa, Ontario (the City), which serves a population of just over one million, has selected CIS Infinity, the customer information and utility billing software system from Advanced Utility Systems, a division of N. Harris Computer Corporation (Advanced) to enhance customer service provided to the residents and businesses of the capital city of Canada.

The City undertook a rigorous procurement process that involved 13 stages spread over four phases. The City evaluated technical proposals, solution demonstrations and financial proposals from multiple customer information and utility billing systems vendors and also conducted interviews.

The Evaluation Team for the City explains their selection: “City employees will be making extensive use of the data recorded in our new customer information system to support daily operations as well as to provide useful information to clients, elected officials, and the general public. Therefore, we needed to be thorough in our search and select a system that was reliable and that aligned seamlessly with our functional and technical requirements.”

“Advanced proved that CIS Infinity would reduce the overall complexity of current data management processes and required manual data entry, while improving data integrity. We were also impressed with their business process methodology and we look forward to identifying efficiencies, enhancing services and re-engineering processes as part of the implementation.”

The City also selected the add-on solution Infinity.Link (Customer Self-Service) which Advanced dedicated extensive hours to enhance, to ensure it adhered to Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) standards.

In terms of bill production at the City, it is scheduled by geographical areas to manage the high volume of approximately 230,000 accounts. This volume is expected to grow to about 300,000 active accounts in the next twenty years, equivalent to about 4,500 new accounts per year.

Further, the City processes 5.7 million A/R transactions and 1.3 million reads annually.

“Advanced is proud to be selected by the City and looks forward to the opportunity to showcase how scalable CIS Infinity is,” says Peter Fanous, Executive Vice President of Advanced. “This project will highlight and underscore how CIS Infinity can support the customer service and billing needs of an organization that is of the size and scope of the City.”
